Dan Snow
Television presenter Dan Snow’s great-grandfather, Lieutenant-General Sir Thomas D’Oyly Snow, commanded VII Corps during the Battle of the Somme, 1916, and the Battle of Cambrai the following year. Following criticism of his role at Cambrai, and because of ill health, Lieutenant-General Snow asked to be relieved of his command.
Dan’s other great-grandfather, Thomas John Carey Evans of the Indian Medical Service, served at Gallipoli. He married Lloyd George’s daughter Olwen.
